Why Louisville?

Louisville city skyline during sunset
Louisville is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the 29th most-populous city in the United States. Named after King Louis XVI of France, Louisville was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark, making it one of the oldest cities west of the Appalachians. With nearby Falls of the Ohio as the only major obstruction to river traffic between the upper Ohio River and the Gulf of Mexico, the settlement first grew as a portage site. Lewis and Clark met in Louisville on October 14, 1803, thus actually forming one of the most famous partnerships in American history.

Today, the city is known as the home of boxer Muhammad Ali, the Kentucky Derby, KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), the University of Louisville Cardinals, Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and three of Kentucky’s six Fortune 500 companies: Humana, Kindred Healthcare, and Yum! Brands. Muhammad Ali International Airport, Louisville’s main commercial airport, hosts UPS’s worldwide hub.
Louisville is affectionately known as the Bourbon City as it the start of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Louisville has 10 Urban Bourbon experiences with in the city. An important aspect to Louisville’s culture is the Southern Cuisine. The city is famous for its Hot Brown sandwich, a hearty open-faced turkey sandwich topped with bacon and Mornay sauce. Louisville has 250+ restaurants within a 10 min drive the main business district.
